It was a warm day...low 80's so we had lots of nice warm sunshine at 6:00 when the game started. Bye 8:00 when it ended I was wishing for a jacket!
Our team played an excellent game. Our pitcher was awesome and struck out many players from the opposing team. The other team didn't have the same pitching talent as our team (Megan was hit in the head by the ball while at bat....but she was tough and ran proudly to first base), but Union Grove could really catch the ball. Their great catching made it hard for us to run to base .
After several innings the score was tied. We played one more inning to see if one team could pull off a win. We went to bat first...and brought in 4 runs! Union Grove went up to bat last. the rules of the game are that they call it an inning if the team has 5 runs. Since the girls are pitching themselves (instead of coach pitch)5 runs are easy to get since they are often walking to base. Chances were that Union Grove could pull off a win. Union Grove had two hits. The first girl made it to 2nd base...and stole 3d. When the second batter went to the plate she hit an RBI....but we got her out on 1st (small miracle...excellent throwing and catching in that play.) Then Payton's pitching skills kicked in and she struck out two girls in a row! The girls pulled of a 3 point win. Way to go Pink Panthers!
Next Game is Saturday, April 25th, in Woodville at 6:30 p.m against Asbury.
